Balmar Alternators work with an external regulator. The Balmar regulators work by using programmable multistage regulating. With the ARS-5 or The Max Charge MC-624 regulator you can set the battery type AGM, flooded, gel or the new halogen systems. Alternator and battery temp sensing automatically turns the alternator down when the alternator or battery gets to hot saving both. You can program your charging curve with the same Bulk, Acceptance and Float modes found in the most marine style battery chargers to day.
Balmar makes a wide variety of alternators from small case alternators that are a direct fit for most small engine applications. The 6-series have internal fans for better cooling and come in as low as 70 Amp all the way up to 160 amps. Large case alternators found on large industrial diesels to over three hundred AMPS of charging power. Alternators can be remotely mounted, so having two alternators on one engine is an option. The dual MC-612 allows two alternators to work together for large house banks. I have used this system with really good results. I use Balmar Digital Duo Charge for keeping the engine, generator or bow thruster batteries topped off. AltMount pulley system is a great new way to transfer that energy to your alternator. Alt mount makes serpentine belt kits to fit most engines. Driving up to 20hp off a single belt. No Limit to the size of alternator you can drive off your pulley system with this set up.
